Family not allowing boy to get married out of the family

Q: I am 32 years old. I am asking my family to let me get marryied to a girl (outside my family) but they are not agreeing. They do not give me a reference from Quran or from Hadith. What should I do? Should I bypass them all? Is there any problem in doing this?

A: If your parents and family are not pleased with the person's deen and mannerisms, then you should take their advice and get married to someone who is pious and committed to deen. You should understand that nikaah is a lifetime commitment. If the person you wish to marry is not going to integrate in your family due to your family not being pleased with her ways, akhlaaq or level of deen or her family not being deeni committed, then you will have to put up with ongoing difficulties and hardships throughout your life. Therefore, it will be better for you to listen to your parents and marry someone who is pious, and who possesses good character, mannerisms and ways.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
