Praising Allah Ta'ala and Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)

Q: Is it Fardh-e-Ain to praise Allah Ta'ala and His Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)?

A: Allah Ta'ala has commanded that we praise Him and thank Him for His favours, hence this command is a compulsory command. Similarly, we are commanded to recite durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) in the Quraan Majeed. The fuqaha have stated that reciting durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is fardh ain once in a lifetime. Thereafter, in any gathering where one hears the mubaarak name of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), then it is waajib (compulsory) to recite durood. According to Imaam Tahaawi (rahimahullah), it is waajib every time one hears the mubaarak name in the gathering and according to Imaam Karkhi (rahimahullah), it is waajib once in the gathering and thereafter it is mustahab whenever one hears the mubaarak name in the gathering.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
