Husband asking his wife to reveal her past
Q: Is it permissible for a husband to ask his wife about her past. He even has her facebook account and contacts. He demands answers and becomes very angry. He sais he has to know and there should not be any secrets between a married couple. Is this right?
A: Revealing one's past to people is haraam and one will be sinful. Similarly, to ask someone to reveal their past is also haraam and one will also be sinful for doing this.
If his wife has reformed her ways and made taubah for her past, then it is not permissible for him to ask her about her past or to remind her about the wrongs she had committed. The husband should feel that during his life perhaps there were many occasions where he had slipped, but Allah Ta'ala had concealed him. Similarly, he should also conceal her faults and sins.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
