Having a stay over with alcoholic friends

Q: My friends are alcoholics and I'm not. We are having a picnic planned up soon and staying overnight. They want to bring alcohol but I dont like it and I know that if I sit with them the my prayers and dua won't be accepted for 40 days. What if I sit far away from them or be outside? Can I do that?
A: By joining them and associating with them, you will be condoning the sins that they are involved in. If they are involved in haraam activities which draw the wrath of Allah Ta'ala, then by remaining with them and not stopping them, you will be a party to the sin that they are committing and you will also earn the wrath of Allah Ta'ala.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
