Performing the 2 rakaat Sunnat Muakkadah of Esha after the Witr Salaah

Q: Is it allowed to pray the 2 rakaat Sunnat e Muakkadah of Esha after I pray Witr prayer? Sometimes in emergency I skipp the sunnat and I wanted to pray it later.

A: The two sunnat-e-muakkadah of Esha should be performed immediately after the fard of Esha and before the Witr Salaah. This is the correct sequence reported in the Hadith and this sunnah sequence should be maintained. However, if you had performed the two sunnat-e-muakkadah after the Witr, the sunnah salaah will be valid, though this is against the correct sequence established in the Hadith.
