Wearing socks in ihraam

Q: When in Ihraam and making tawaaf, is it permissible to be wearing socks? If so, what type of socks would be permissible?

A: In the state of ihraam, it is necessary that the upper portion of the foot be exposed (i.e. from the place where the shoe-lace is normally tied up to the ankle) as well as the area around the ankle. This law applies only to males. As for females, it is permissible for them to wear footwear that covers their entire feet in the state of ihraam.

Hence, in the state of ihraam it is permissible for females to wear socks which cover their entire feet, but it is not permissible for males to wear socks that cover their entire feet.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
