Visiting a non-Muslim relative

Q:

1. What is the ruling on a woman going to visit her non-Muslim maternal auntys house?

2. Are non-Muslim relatives automatically non-mahram?

3. How should a Muslim woman's conduct and behaviour be to one's non-Muslim relatives?

A:

1. If there is a genuine need to visit then briefly show them kindness and leave immediately so that you may not witness any of the evil or kufr etc. of that home.

2. If they are mahram then they remain your mahram, but most people in this day don't know limits, more especially the kuffaar. With all the wrong that has become prevalent, the concept of modesty has left their lives. As a precaution, it is best to keep a distance, and as explained earlier let the meeting be brief and leave immediately.

3. As above.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
