Using the title Sayyid for a person who is not the family of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)

Q: If someone is not a Sayyid by caste but puts the title Sayyid before his name, is it allowed in Islam?

A: The title Sayyid is generally used for the family of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). If one is not a Sayyid, then he should not put this title before his name as this will be giving a false impression to people regarding oneself.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
