Moving to a non-Muslim country to study

Q: I live in a Muslim country. Can I move to Italy which is a non-Muslim country to acquire an mbbs degree and practice medicine? It is neccessary to state that this mbbs degree and practicing medicine is also possible in my Muslim country. I just want to move there due to the extra facilities. So is it permissible to move to Italy knowing that haraam is freely available there?

A: Moving from a strong Islamic friendly environment to an environment which is totally alien to Islam comes with its challenges. The greatest obligation of every Muslim is to ensure that he secures his Deen. Material security is secondary. We do not know what is the state of the place that you are moving to nor are we acquainted with the circumstance. However, on the surface we can say that this is a risk.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
