Q:
1. Please explain when should the tahneek for a baby take place?
2. What should be done on the 7th day and if a baby is born on Wednesday after esha when is the 7th day?
3. If a baby's hair was cut before the 7th day, will it be OK?
4. What is the procedure of weighing the hair and giving out charity?
A:
1. It is best that the first thing that enters the stomach of the child be the tahneek.
2. On the seventh day, the child should be named, the hair should be shaved and the aqeeqah should be slaughtered on behalf of the child. Since the child was born after Esha on a Wednesday, it will be considered that the child was born on Thursday. In this case, the seventh day will be the following Wednesday.
3. It is ok, but the mustahab practice has been left out.
4. The child's head should be shaved, the hair should be weighed, and silver equal to the weight of the hair should be given in charity. One may give the value of the silver in another currency to the poor.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
