Meaning of the verse "Allah Ta'ala guides whomsoever He wishes and misguides whomsoever He wishes."

Q: Am I correct to say the following.

1. Allah guides whomsoever he wills and Allah misguides whomsoever he wills?

2. If true, then what should I think of a person who questions the above?

A: Allah Ta'ala grants each person the choice of choosing between right and wrong. If a person wants to tread on the wrong path, then Allah Ta'ala allows it to happen. One will not say that Allah Ta'ala forced misguidance on him. This is the meaning of the verse "Allah Ta'ala guides whomsoever He wishes and misguides whomsoever He wishes."

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
