Wearing jeans

Q: I'd like to know what is the ruling regarding men, ladies and children wearing jeans?

A: Jeans is a western type of clothing which is generally worn by people who are not committed to Deen. Hence, Muslims should avoid adopting the western culture and they should refrain from wearing this type of clothing.

Apart from this, when wearing this type of clothing, then the contours of the body are seen due to this clothing being tight-fitting and body-hugging. Thus, just as wearing clothing which is transparent and reveals the satar area is not permissible, similarly, wearing such tight-fitting and body-hugging clothing which causes the satar area of a man (i.e. from the navel area until the knee), or the satar area of a woman (i.e. her entire body) to become visible before people is not permissible. Therefore, Muslims should ensure that they refrain from wearing these types of clothing which go against the Islamic fabric of hayaa and shame and are not in keeping to the sunnah and the values of Islam.

Parents should also discourage their children from wearing such un-Islamic clothing.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
