Going to a church to invite people to Islam

Q: I would like to know if it is permissible for a Muslim to invite non-Muslims at a church to Islam (to give them dawat and invite them to Islam)?

A: We are prohibited from going to the places of worship of the kuffaar (e.g. church, synagogue, temple, etc.). These places are inhabited by shayaateen and jinnaat. Symbols of kufr and shirk, statues and pictures of animate objects, and other evil infuences are also found in such places. Hence, it is not permissible for a believer to enter such places, even if it is with the intention of dawat.

Just as a believer will not enter a brothel, casino or pub to invite people to Islam, as entering these places is prohibited, similarly a believer should not enter the church, synagogue, temple, etc. as entering these places is also prohibited. However, a believer should give dawat to the kuffaar at other places and other occasions in a way that will not contravene and violate the laws of shariah in any way.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
