Q: I was the youngest of my 6 brothers and 2 sisters. My chacha and chachi didn't have a child of their own so they adopted me. The name on my ID card is not of my original father. Is this fine or should I change the name on my ID?
A: The law of Islam is that the adopted child be attributed to his biological parents. Attributing the adopted child to the adoptive parents and regarding them to be his real parents is not permissible. Hence, if it is possible for you to change your ID, then you should do so. If it is not possible, then this issue should be clarified among people.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
