Meaning of the Hadith "Allah will say to every Muslim, Jew or Christian - that is your rescue from Hell-Fire"

Q: Sahih Muslim 2767a - Abu Musa' (radhiyallahu anhu) reported that Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

When it will be the Day of Resurrection Allah would deliver to every Muslim a Jew or a Christian and say: That is your rescue from Hell-Fire.

According to this hadith, a Jew or Christian will be our rescue from hell fire. I know that they will take our place in hell, but why did Allah said they are our rescue from hell? Is that the real wording? Because the non-muslim take this verse literally.

A: The complete details of this Hadith is not before you, hence, you are faced with this doubt. The complete details of this Hadith is that every person, whether he be a believer or disbeliever, has a place reserved for him in Jannah and Jahannum.

If a person passes away upon imaan, he will be blessed with Jannah, and his place reserved in Jahannum will be given to a kaafir. Accordingly, if a person passes away upon kufr, he will be sent to jahannam and his place reserved for him in jannah will be given to a believer.

In other words, Allah Ta'ala out of His infinite grace and mercy grants each person an equal opportunity to do good and earn jannah or to do evil and earn jahannam. Allah Ta'ala does not oppress anyone by punishing them in jahannam without any reason.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
