Q: What is the status of cats in Islam, is it Sunnah to keep them? Is there any reward attached to keeping cats?
A: There is no virtue mentioned in the Hadith for keeping pets. However, it is permissible for one to keep a pet (e.g. a cat), and if one feeds it halaal food and takes good care of it, one will receive reward.
