Using a lectern in the masjid while giving a lecture

Q: Is it permissible to use a lectern in the masjid by ulama giving a lecture considering the fact that it is a concept used in the churches?

A: If you are referring to a normal book stand upon which one is able to place his book or notes while giving the lecture, then it is permissible to use it. However, the khutbah should be given while standing on the mimbar. Nevertheless, if there is resemblance with the way the sermon is delivered in the church, then this should be changed.
