Wishing someone well on their anniversary

Q: Is it permissible in Islam to wish someone well on their anniversary?

Also, what about cutting the cake in the presence of close family members? Is this permissible?

A: There is no basis for this. A Muslim is always practical and realistic, and deen teaches him how to capture the moment in the best way, not in a fabricated and faked up way. The better thing is to make dua for the person, not only on his anniversary, but whenever you remember, for his prosperity in this life and the next. Otherwise, you are not being realistic. You are waiting for his anniversary to wish him well. In a Muslim's life, every hour and moment is a time to thank Allah Ta`ala and to reflect on how much better you can prepare for the next life. This is the meaning of being realistic.

As explained above, these are all fake and fabricated ways. Don't live a life of illusion and imagination. Be a real, practical Muslim.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
