Placing a taweez in a house to protect the house from black magic and nazr

Q: There are certain people that write verses of the Quran Shareef on pieces of paper and stick it around their house with the intention of binding the house from magic and nazr. Please inform me if this has any basis in Deen. If not, is it a form or shirk? 

A: This is not shirk. This is permissible as a treatment, provided the contents of the taweez conforms to shariah. However, this should not be regarded as a sunnah practice.
