The meaning of worshipping one’s desires

Q: What does it mean to worship one’s desires? Please give an example of this as well?

A: Worshipping desires refers to giving preference to one's desires over the commands of Allah Ta'ala. For example, one knows that photography is haraam and despite this, one gets involved in it, or one watches movies etc. thereby fulfilling one's desires and breaking the commands of Allah Ta'ala. Similarly, not performing salaah on its prescribed time with jamaat in the musjid due to worldly engagements and involvements, or not observing purdah with non mahrams due to wanting to be free and casual with women.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
