Delaying in performing the nikaah

Q: I am currently studying, but my future wife's father is sick. Some people suggested that I get married first and then continue studying. At least the father will see his daughter getting married.

What I am confused about is, isn't it cruel if I haven't provided for her financially or spiritually?

I think it will be difficult to finish college while working.

A: The command of Shariah is that once a suitable match is found, the nikaah should not be delayed.

Delaying in performing the nikaah leads to many sins and vices taking place between the boy and girl e.g. keeping contact and chatting, meeting each other, sharing pictures of each other, going out with each other etc.

All these sins are various forms of (minor) zina but this thereafter eventually leads the both towards getting involved in the actual sin of zina.

In your situation, the nikaah can be performed and the girl can stay with her parents for the time being until you are able to fully support her.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
