Q: The secondary Muslim Girls School teachers stated that Sayyidatuna Khadijah (radhiyallahu anha) was a trader/businesswoman and therefore it's allowed for women to go out to earn a livelihood.
I'll appreciate if respected Mufti Saheb could explain this matter.
A: The teacher is a jaahil. She does not have proper sound knowledge of the seerat. Hadhrat Khadeejah (radhiyallahu anha) was not at any time active in business. Rather she entered into a mudhaarabah contract. And in a mudhaarabah contract one person forwards the cash and the other is the active worker. To use these types of words that she conducted business is genuinely misleading and goes against the honorable reputation of the mother of the believers.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
