Q: Surah Hashr - The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: Whoever recites Surah Hashr then none from among Paradise, Hell, Arsh (Allah’s Throne) Chair, Curtains, the seven Skies, the Seven earths, space, wind, birds, trees, mountains, Sun, Moon, and angels would miss seeking forgiveness for him and yearning for his safety. If that man dies that day or that night he would die a martyr.
Is this authentic? Does one have to recite this Surah everyday to get this virtue?
A: We have not come across the virtue which you have mentioned. However, we have come across two Ahaadith in regard to the virtues of Surah Hashr. Below are these two Ahaadith:
1. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) once advised a Sahaabi to recite Surah Hashr before sleeping and Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) mentioned to him the following virtue.
Rasulullah (salllallahu alaihi wasallam said to him) “If you (recite Surah Hashr before sleeping and then) pass away, you will pass away as a martyr" or Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: "You will be from among the people of Jannah” (Amalul Yowmi Wal Lailah #718)
2. In another Hadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said: “The person who recites the following dua thrice in the morning
أَعُوذُ باللهِ السَّمِيعِ العَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيطَانِ الرَّجِيم
and thereafter recites the last three verses of Surah Hashr, Allah Ta’ala will appoint seventy thousand angels to make dua for him (i.e. seek forgiveness on his behalf and ask Allah Ta’ala to bless him with taufeeq to do righteous actions) until the evening, and if he passes away on that day, he will pass away as a martyr. And whoever recites it in the evening, he will receive the same virtue. (Sunan Tirmidhi #2922)
Yes, you should recite it daily.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
