Q: I would like to enquire about the Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) regarding the curse of cutting 2 lengths of hair.
A: Abdullah bin Umar (radhiyallahu anhuma) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) forbade qaza`. Qaza` means having part of a boy's head shaved and leaving part unshaven. (Sunan Abu Dawood).
Further, the Quraan Shareef says: وَلَا تَرْكَنُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ - And do not incline towards those who do wrong, lest the fire should touch you. These kinds of haircuts are the ways of the wrongdoers and kuffaar. Hence, imitating them will lead to Jahannum.
Apart from that, we have been commanded to oppose the disbelievers and sinners in their dressing, appearance, ways, and behaviours etc. The hadeeth also says: "(In the hereafter,) a person will be with those whom he loves."
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
