How to not belittle sin

Q: How to not belittle sin? 

Will persisting in sin lead to kufr? What kind of persisting in sin lead to kufr? Such as if a person commits zina proudly until he dies, will it be considered as kufr?

A: Understand the being whose command is being violated. The more you understand the being whose command is being trampled, the more you will see it as a serious crime and you will feel embarrassed about yourself. 

Rather than pursuing all of this, make taubah and istighfaar and leave the sin.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
