Seeking cure through the verses of the Quraan Majeed

Q: I want to ask what are virtues or benefits of reciting:

 سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِّن رَّبٍّ رَّحِيمٍ

which is ayat-58 of Surah-e-Yaseen? I have heard that reciting it frequently is beneficial for good livelihood and health and so many other things.

A: Seeking cure through the verses of the Quraan Majeed is permissible on condition that nothing impermissible is joined to it. Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, "Hold on to the two means of cure, Honey and the Quraan" (i.e. in regard to seeking shifa and remedy for spiritual and physical ailments).

Hence, it is permissible for one to recite this verse as a wazeefah (to acquire this benefit) on condition that one does not regard this practice to be sunnah.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

عن عبد الله قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: عليكم بالشفاءين: ‌العسل ‌والقرآن (سنن ابن ماجة، الرقم: ٣٤٥٢)
