Q: Is it obligatory upon children to complete late parents vows?
For example if someone vows to fast for 10 days and then doesn't do it and passes away. Can we give kaffara instead of completing the fasts because the children can't fast. What's the kaffara in this case?
A: If the parents did not make a bequest that it be paid from one third of their estate, it will not be compulsory upon the heirs to fulfil it on their behalf. However, if the children fulfil it from their wealth, they will be greatly rewarded.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
