Leaving wealth for one's children

Q: How do we reconcile the Hadith of Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) telling Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (radhiyallahu anhu) to leave his children wealthy rather than poor, with the story of Umar bin Abdul Aziz (rahimahullah) leaving nothing for his children?

A: For people in general, the best way is the way of Hadhrat Sa'd (radhiyallahu anhu). You may have some people who are an exception to the rule. You would make out the person who is an exception to the rule by the fact that he will spend and he and his dependants will have no reservations, not at that time or after that time has elapsed.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
