Q: Is it permissible for a woman to keep long nails, provided it is before 40 days?
A: This is discouraged in Islam. The Hadith has encouraged one to cut his/her finger nails once a week. Apart from this, keeping long nails is a resemblance with the kuffaar culture and is also against cleanliness and physical hygiene. Our deen is a deen of purity and cleanliness. Therefore, one should refrain from this.
