Some laws pertaining to fishing

Q:

1. What is the correct way to kill a fish so it is halal to eat?

2. If I get a live fish, and it dies because it was taken out of the water (lack of oxygen), can I eat it?

3. Or does the fish have to be killed with a knife then its permissible to eat?

A:

1. Fish caught with a fishing net or fishing rod is halaal and permissible to eat.

2. Live fish which die when removing them from the water is also halaal and permissible to eat.

3. Fish do not have to be slaughtered or killed with a knife for it to be halaal. Merely catching the fish and removing it from the water till it dies is sufficient for it to be halaal.

Note: Fish which die a natural death in the water and are found floating at the surface of the water are not halaal and not permissible to consume.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
