Q: If someone named Shakir creates a fake account under the name Omar, and then writes on that account “I divorce my wife,” would Shakir’s wife be considered divorced according to the Hanafi school of law?
A: If this was not done by the husband and nor did the husband appoint anyone to act on his behalf in issuing the talaaq, then no talaaq has taken place.
If this was done by the husband and the talaaq which he issued was directed towards his wife by stating her name or by intending her when issuing the talaaq, then his wife will be divorced.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
