Q: I have seen scholars saying that to believe a being can travel the entire world in one go is shirk. I have a few doubts about it.
1. As far I know fast travelling is not even an attribute of Allah. Then why is it shirk?
2. Even light can travel the earth in less than a second according to science then why did scholars call travelling in one go shirk? Even angels and shayateen can cover vast distances in a very short time.
So in what context do scholars mean it?

A: To be able to travel a long distance in a few moments is called Tayyul Ard (the earth folding for a person). Allah Ta'ala blesses certain servants with this ability. They cannot do it of their own, but through the permission of Allah Ta'ala. Hence, this is not regarded as shirk, but this is a karaamat (a miracle).
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
