Making taubah for mocking Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)

Q: A Muslim who mocked and insulted our beloved Nabi Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) wishes to truly make sincere taubah for this serious sin. How should this Muslim who mocked and insulted our beloved Nabi Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) gain the complete forgiveness of ALLAH?

A: He should express deep remorse from his heart and sincerely beg Allah Ta'ala's forgiveness for what he has done. Similarly, he should inform all the people in whose presence he insulted Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) that what he had said and done was totally haraam and that he is retracing from what he said and he is making taubah from this major and serious sin.

He should also inform the people that he loves Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) dearly from the depths of his heart and that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and his mubaarak way and sunnah is most beloved to him, more than any other way in the world.

He should also adhere to the mubaarak sunnah in all facets of his life and daily recite durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) as a sign of his sincere love for Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and as an atonement for his sins.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
