Q: Is there a specific way, method or structure to seek knowledge? I have heard that there is a ‘manhaj’ for seeking knowledge but do not know if this is correct.
A: The system that was always in vogue was to look for a suitable righteous teacher. Thereafter, the procedure of taleem is to begin with the more basic fundamental teachings like aqaaid, tahaarat, salaah, etc. As the learner understands and comes to terms then he may proceed to the matters that are explained in detail. In all the ages of the past, special emphasis was paid to the tarbiyat, adab and taqwa of the learner.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
