Q: I have a Muslim helper. She has been having problems with where she is staying and needs help with rent. Is it permissible for me to pay her rent from my zakaat money? That's besides her monthly wages. This will be me paying her rent from my zakaat money to help her out.
A: Yes, it is permissible for you to help her pay her rent with zakaat money.
You can either give her the money to pay it herself or you can pay it on her behalf.
In this case where you pay it directly on her behalf, you should first take her permission before paying the money to her landlord.
