Q: When praying with an Imaam, are there any special benefits of standing directly behind him? Some people compete for this position where I am from and I want to know if there is anything to this.
A: Yes. The greatest virtue is to be straight in line behind the imaam, thereafter the person immediately on the right and then the person on the left.
