Reward for assisting a person clear his debt

Q: If a person is in a personal debt exceeding 800k and on his monthly income he does not meet his monthly expenses. Can he be assisted with zakaat to pay is debt, and what is the reward of this action of assisting an individual of clearing his debt wether it is zakaat or on his personal strength?

A: Yes. 

Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has mentioned: "Whoever relieves a Muslim of some worldly distress, Allah Ta'ala will relieve him of some of the distress of the Day of Qiyaamah."

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
