Q: Is it permissible in Islam to look at an eclipse (if the eclipse is safe to look at for the eyes) and go outside when an eclipse occurs?
A: The hadeeth teaches us to rush to the musjid and engage in dua and istighfaar etc. at the time of an eclipse. It is not an occasion for sightseeing and excitement. It is an occasion to understand the magnanimity of Allah Ta`ala and to become apprehensive and fearful.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
