Feeding people after completing one's hifz

Q: I am completing my hifz soon insha'Allah.

I have heard different opinions on having a meal to feed people to express joy of completing. And I have been told that it motivates everyone as well when they see someone completing hifz.

Ultimately what will make Allah happier with me if I invite people over for a meal or don't.

A: It is an occasion of happiness and appreciation, primarily to Allah Ta`ala and then to those who helped and cooperated in this endeavour. Hence, to feed on these occasions is not against the sunnat.

Hadhrat Umar (radhiyallahu anhu) slaughtered a cow and fed the people after memorising Surah Baqarah.

Be sure to keep the intentions right, not to show off and brag of one's achievements and see to it that you do things well within your means.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
