Repeating the salaah performed without wudhu

Q: If I read salaah and then realised I never had wudhu, how should I repeat it? Will I need to read my sunnats again or only fard and waajib?

A: If the sunnats were also not performed with wudhu, then the sunnats before and after the fardh will also have to be repeated if the time of the salaah still remains.

Once the time passes, then one will only have to make qadha of the fardh salaah and waajib salaah (i.e. witr salaah). One will not have to make qadha of the sunnat salaah.

However, the law of the sunnats of Fajr is different.

If one makes qadha of the Fajr Salaah before zawaal of the same day, then he should also make qadha of the sunnats of Fajr together with the fardh.

If he makes qadha of the Fajr after zawaal of the same day or he makes qadha on another day, then he should only perform the fardh of Fajar. He will not make qadha of the sunnats.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
