Advice

Rectifying one's mistake

Q: I'm a Muslim and I was currently sitting with a group of non Muslim people. They asked me if drinking is allowed is Islam and I said it is Haram, however they asked me if it is ok to take drugs like weed and cocaine and I accidentally said it is ok to take drugs realizing later that I made a mistake and gave wrong advice as you are not allowed to take anything that can harm the body in Islam.

Being honest

Q: I work in sheltered housing for the elderly. A resident passed away and I found in cash 19,140 pounds. If I wanted, I could have kept the money but I gave it to the authorities so he can have a funeral and pay his debts and the rest can go to his family. I am need of money, like 4,000 pounds but I still did not take the money. Some relatives and work colleagues are calling me an idiot, as he was dead and a non Muslim and I need the money. Plus they saying that it would not be a sin but my heart is at peace. I want to know if what I did was right?

Being proud of one's achievements

Q: Allah Almighty has blessed me and I have become a doctor. I am so happy and I have worked so hard for it and Allah has blessed me, so I would like to tell everyone that I have become a doctor and be proud about it and receive congratulations. Should I be humble and not tell anyone or there is no wrong in doing what I am doing? I dont want my Allah to be sad with me.

Helping one's brother who is in need

Q: I took a project and decided that some percentage of the profit I will give to my brother who is sick. And some I will give in the way of Allah. After finishing my project I give some money to my brother but now my brother asked me for more money. He is jobless and due to illness he can't do any job. Can I also give the other share to him?

Informing one's husband about father in laws illicit actions

Q: My friend needs an urgent advice on the following: I am living with my in laws in a big house, my father in law and mother in law live in separate rooms, they do not have any physical relation. My married nand is also living with us as her husband is in saudia. She is a working woman. When she goes for work , my father in law takes her 3 year old daughter and I have seen him doing real bad things with this girl. My other two dewranis have also seen him doing bad stuff with goat that we have. Two other minor girls of house are also witness that their grandfather touches them on private parts. If I inform my husband, or any other person at home, I fear divorce. I am already divorced and this is my second marriage. These people are very far away from deen, they think the father is pious and can not commit any sin. If I don't tell, I feel guilty. What should I do?

Non-Muslim practising Islam

Q: By birth I was not a Muslim, but I followed Islamic rules and performed namaaz in the last four years. I wear shawl when I go to my college or outing but my friends always insult me for wearing a shawl. They tell others that I am not a Muslim but act like a Muslim. I am so hurt.
