Inheritance

Q: I have a question regarding inheritance. If someone could please kindly answer. I would be most grateful. A father has 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters. His house is in his ownership. he makes a verbal arrangement amongst some family members that this house belongs to one of his sons, although by law he does not transfer the ownership of the house to that son during his lifetime. The mother insists that even though the father is still alive , the son to whom the house is promised after the fathers death must pay his younger brother his share of the value of the house. Regarding the 3rd remaining brother it is verbally decided that he will not receive any share of the value of the house as his parents have already financially helped him. Furthermore it is agreed that the two daughters will not inherit and they both verbally express they forgo their right of any inheritance in favour of two of their brothers. If you could please give me the Islamic ruling on the validity of all this.

Sighting the moon with a telescope

Q:

1) Kindly explain why Shari'at would allow the aid of spectacles to sight the moon but not the aid of a stronger medium like a pair of binoculars?

2) Kindly explain why the sighting of the moon from the Mount Everest at 8.8 km above sea level would be acceptable but not from an aircraft flying at a lower altitude of 5 km above sea level?

Performing ghusal on Friday

Q: I wanted to ask regarding a woman having a bath on Friday but not attending the Jumuah Salaah. As far as I know the Friday bath is mustahab for those attending Jumuah Salaah only, but it's commonly thought that women who pray at home should still have a bath on Fridays as it is regarded as a Sunnah. Is this true? Please could you let me know the exact ruling for women.

Giving sadaqah to poor people

Q: I have put a box in my cupboard in which I put the sadaqa amount and when a considerable amount gets together, I give them in charity. I have told my friends about it and they also sometimes contribute in it. The method I adopt regarding charity is that I visit a near by area where mostly poor people live. Then I search for those who are apparently religious as well as needy. The standard of needy that I look at is that one who is apparently really suffering to make both ends meet though he has a fruit stall or an animal like donkey for picking loads for people and carrying them elsewhere. I know that there must be much more needy ones but with this methodology, is my sadqa discharged properly because I think that giving to charity organization may be better but doing so one does not get the real feeling of the poor which one gets by searching them. So I prefer this method.
