Doubts

Q: I am really sorry that I am wasting your time, you have so many people to answer their important questions but I really think I should share my thoughts to an expert and take his advice. I am really suffering from constantly breaking wudu and I am really in a great pain. I have made a routine which was really good and my time would be used very effectively and I could sleep 5-6 hours at least with reading tahajjud.. But as I can't perform my salah in time due to this problem and sometimes another problems related to taharat I can't keep up to my routine.. And also concentration in my salah is getting lower to lowest day by day.. It takes a huge energy to calm myself and motivate myself to make concentration in salah.. Very often when this happens and I am really tired I think of dying and giving up fard salah etc many dangerous thoughts come to my head.. Nowadays my bad temper came back which I made tawba of.. Except these I am a majoor (for another reason).I feel like my duas are not accepted, no point of making dua, tawba is not sincere, no point of making tawba.. I am really fustrated I have started to behave bad with people very dangerously with my mother too.. I don't feel like praying nafl which I used to do regularly and dont read Quran in the morning regularly.. I am not getting any motivation.. I lost connection with Allah and always feel like crying.. I don't want to go to varsity but I go there as my parents my family my husband will get hurt and it will be a disaster in our family. I thought as I am going there I should give them dawah, as I am a practising muslim I wear full niqab hijab I should be exemplary to them but in reality I am a total disaster, I don't go there regularly, in almost every class I am proven inattentive (my friend speaks a lot and I am not interested in this subject) , I wanted to correct this but it is continuously happening. I don't bring my assignments.. I am a full mess there.and it also happened that a teacher is making fun of how muslims are following blindly saudi dress and whole class laughing. And I also don't give dawah verbally as I don't know how to start and should I say something I am a bad example in the class (though I did good results everyone knows me as a good student, now my result is getting bad) in this situation to cope with the difficulties and getting motivated again and again and go forward has become very difficult for me.. I have a very weak iman very low tawakkul on Allah.. I really am in grave pain and do not know what to do knowing that more difficult time is coming(my husband's family is not that religious it will be really difficult for me to maintain parda having only halal food there as I don't eat tomato sauce also because I saw in halal e-codes that it is mashbooh).. Please give me some advices what to do..

Marital problems

Q: My wife and I have been married for over 13 years. In this 13 years about 12 years we living with the constant interference of my mother in law. Things has now become so bad that I feel our relationship has hit rock bottom and fear of us splitting. My mother in law is a very strong willed women that is running her house and makes all the decisions for her family, even though my father in law is there he is not allowed to make or do any decisions that she does not agree with, I’ve learnt that through reaching out to him that he is not as he was made out to be. All my marriage I was made to believe that my father in law is a bad person and he dislikes me.

My mother in law is the type of mother who wants all her kids with her constantly and beware your soul if you decide any different. As a parent myself I can understand that but there has to be limits when it comes to your grown daughters that has a family of their own and also husbands. She is in charge of all my wife’s siblings and luckily for them they have spouses with different personalities then mine. Much like my mother in law I too have a strong willed personality and don’t allow anyone to dictate to me what to do and how to do it, I make dua that Allah soften my heart so I can just let things be however I feel that my wants and needs also needs to be respected. As husband I need to be respected and allowed to make decisions for my family. I’m not unreasonable however I cannot be expected to “dance to anyone’s tune” I’m a very sensible and mature individual whom family members, friends, workers and even elders approach for assistance when in need.

My mother in-law before going on Hajj approached me and asked forgiveness, she came clean and told me she interfered in my marriage, which I’ve forgiven her for and thought that would be the end of it. I really tried to be more accommodating however still had my guard up because she has done too much and said too much hurtful things. Don’t get me wrong she has a good heart and does a lot for the community and others in need, however when it comes to her interference in the way we should live our lives, whom we have over at our house even if it’s my family, its unbearable.

Lately she has become even worst, constantly going at my wife for silly things and this all in front of our kids whom is at an age where they understand what is going on. She even went so far to tell my wife not to come and greet her on Eid day all because my wife was busy with Eid preparations and missed her calls and forgot to phone back. The thing is my wife’s younger sister also gets involved and then they gang up against her, telling her she will never be successful and that’s why her sister has more because she listens and cares more for her mother. My wife being the type of laid back person that never stands up for herself is just like that, many a times I get upset because she don’t answer her phone or delay things to the very end then I need to pick up the pieces. In all this I not once told my wife to stay away because it’s her family. My wife would be upset then it’s me trying to repair the relationship with her family by calling her father and ask him to speak to my wife and his. I don’t keep her away from her family as I know she cares and loves them even more than me, which I don’t have a problem with. Even when they have a crisis they call on me at 3am in the morning and I get up to assist, but yet I’m seen as a selfish, self-centered and egotistical person.

I’ve taken a stance on my own side and decided to keep my interaction with my mother in-law and sister-in law to a bare minimum, its salaam, how are you and that its. I do not visit however when they do have functions I attend for a short while. I’ve exhausted all avenues and don’t know what to do any more. We had countless mashooras with family elders and this always cause more friction between the families, more so our mothers. My wifes health has also not been good and this added pressure from both sides is not doing her any justice. This has cause major problems in our relationship and there’s days that we go without saying a word to each other because she refuses to listen to my side and her mother constantly want to do and say as she pleases and then after a day or two ask for forgiveness. How much longer we can go on like this, I don’t know as its making us both unhappy and our kids thinks that this type of life is normal.

Can you please provide some guidance from an Islamic perspective on how I should deal with this situation, in order for all parties involved to be fairly treated.

Parents preventing one from acquiring Deeni knowledge

Q: My parents, sister and friends are always telling me why I am gaining Islamic knowledge? I don't know but I am very much curious about knowing and applying it. They always tell me "why you are are gaining knowledge and increasing your risk/probability of going to Hell, you just complete your fard Salah and recite some Quran, if you know more, Allah will ask you about that knowledge!" I always says to them, "you are not making any effort to apply it, and felling safe, and I am at least making some effort to gain more knowledge thereon pleasing Allah, if I hadn't done the known act in some situations, then will that allah not forgive me?" They are not gaining knowledge, and also trying to resist me. But, in each stage of appling my knowledge, I getting restrictions from my colleagues/friends (they are separate in grp expelling me) and parents. They say 'How can you be without any friends,' but I am try my best to be friendly with them by leaving bad things,' So what can I do now? Should I continue my effort or leave it? Plz give me suggestion

Marital problems

Q: I have been having problems with my husband for over 16years. He has been having an emotional if not physical affair and emailing and meeting with this woman. The last time I found out was in April last year when I told him that I wanted a divorce. Besides this affair he ignores me, is increasingly irritated with me, criticizes me all the time and generally is angry and resentful to me. We have been to many counsellors but he initiated it this last time. However he does not go with the intention of resolving the matter. Rather a case of "fix my wife, she has a problem" He has narcissistic tendencies and thinks that he has made his business his life and focal point. I lack for nothing materially. But I am living with a boarder. He has not been remorseful and doesn't apologize for anything. He says he has done nothing wrong because he didn't sleep with her. We are separated for 6 months. Even in this time he refused to cut her from his business and have no contact with her. I had made up my mind that I wanted a divorce. Every waking moment was a torment with thoughts of what he put me through mentally and emotionally. I was so angry that my blood would boil during this time. I have been praying tahajjud and making Dua. I went to the Jamiat and the lady there said I should decide whether to make an agreement or to divorce. At this point I was convinced that divorce was the way. I decided to read istikhara. The next morning after my mind was calm. The first thought that came to mind was the agreement. The next two nights were restless and nothing came to mind. Should I look at this as a sign that I should go with the agreement?

Avoiding problems

Q: There are musallees who are repeatedly making attempts to overthrow my father from his position as a musjid trustee who has been doing most of the good work single handedly, now I see my friends who I trust that are joining those musallees and claiming that they want to assist my father. I feel uncomfortable in their presence when I go for salaah because I know that some of them have negative feelings towards me and my father. How do I approach this situation as I want go to musjid without ill feelings towards them?
