Being a vegan

Q: What are Islam's views on being a vegan? I understand it is mentioned in the Quran that cattles' milk and meat are also meant to be consumed by mankind, but now with the meat and dairy industry being shady about their actual processes behind the product-making, and maybe we can't always trust that the "halaal" products are even really halaal, where are we supposed to stand? If we choose to take the safest option by eliminating the meat and dairy option completely to show our protest against the slaughterhouses, does that mean we're against our nature as humans?

Are vitamins in milk halaal?

Q: In Saudi Arabia all milk are fotified with vitamin A and D which we dont know whether it is halaal or haraam. Since we are female we cannot make complete investigations and enquiries. We have not been drinking milk for approximately 6 months. But we need to drink milk for nutritional purposes. Can we drink the milk or not? My younger sister is weak and she needs to drink milk.

Eating oysters, shrimp, lobsters, etc.

Q: I’m a follower of the Hanafi mazhab and I’d like to know if it’s permissible for me to taste foods such as oyster, shrimp, lobsters, etc. Although it’s not allowed according to Imam Abu Haneefah (rahimahullah) but according to Imam Shaafi’ee (rahimahullah) and Imam Maalik (rahimahullah) it would be fine to eat such foods. Since they are all correct mazaahib and its only a matter regarding food shouldn’t it be jaaiz for me to eat them, if not could I not atleast eat/taste them once.

What should one do with an Easter egg that was given as a gift?

Q: I have a question about easter eggs. I know it's obviously haram to sell and buy them. But today a neighbour has left in front of the door of my hause an easter chocolate egg, although she well knows that my mom and I are Muslim since 3 years, alHamdulillah.

Now I don't know what to do with this chocolate egg. I think it's also haram to eat easter eggs as it's haram to buy them. So what should I do? Do I have to throw away the egg (naturally destroying it so nobody can eat it) or can I break the chocolate into many pieces to consume it during the year as "normal" chocolate?
