Asking the dead for one's needs

Q: I have a question in regards to Shirk. Can a Muslim be a mushrik. Let me define this Muslim first. 1, He accepts Allah and all his messenger are on haq 2, He accept all four books were from Allah and there is a life after death, day of judgement, heaven and hell. 3, He also follow the five pillars of Islam. Following all above this and he has firm faith on this. But still he goes to dargahs and asks directly from the one who is in the grave and has faith that the person whoever is in the grave will help him and listen to him and cure his problem and does all kinds of shirk. If he dies in that state doing shirk and thinking that as a worship, will he be going to jahannum forever or will he be punished for a particular period of time like those people who do haraam will get punished and then back to Jannah. Like Allah Ta'ala said I will forgive all sin except shirk. Can we consider that Muslim man's act as shirk or is this different?

The old testament

Q: My English teacher (a Christian) asked me about the old testament being part of the Quraan and where does it fit in. I am still in the process of learning Islam and told him I would ask some one with more knowledge. Where does the book of genesis in the old testament of the Bible fit in the Quraan and is the old testament exactly the same in the Quraan as it is in the Bible?

Newspapers

Q:

1) Is it permissible to read newspapers?

2) Is it permissible to keep newspapers at home with pictures etc visible no matter which way you fold and turn the newspaper around?

3) Is it advisable to give an old person newspaper to read to keep upto date with the latest happenings?

4) One aalim mentioned that even mashaaikh and buzrugs also have to know what's going on in the important local and international news. How does one find out this without reading newspapers or news websites when all of them will have pictures etc.
