Noor - A sifat of Allah Ta'ala

Q:

1. Is it correct to say that Allah’s Zaat is Noor/Allah is Noor?

2. Is it shirk to say/believe that since Allah is Noor, we are worshipping Noor?

A:

1. Noor is one of the sifaat of Allah Ta`ala.

2. To use a word that confuses people and creates complications is not encouraged. Firstly, people do not understand what is the exact meaning of noor. Secondly, when they have not understood this they will just take a literal translation and start worshipping light. Hence, it is not because of the attribute but because of their misunderstanding that they could misconstrue and involve themselves in shirk.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
