Sitting close to the mimbar when listening to an Islamic talk

Q: In our masjid I get people to sit close to the mimbar for Islamic talks. Can you please give me a Hadith on how close the companions would sit with each other that a cloth would cover them.

A: We have not come across such a hadeeth.
