Advising a person who is attracted to the same gender

Q: With regard to the LGBT, if a person says that Allah created me like this, I know it is wrong but it is not in my control and he has the inclination to the other gender. How must such a person be advised?

A: Such a person is a jaahil. This kind of reasoning is utterly flawed and resonates with the reasoning of the idol worshippers of the past when they attempted to defend themselves by saying, "Had Allah wished, we would not have worshipped things besides Him." They implied that since they were created in that way, it should be acceptable. However, this reasoning is totally unacceptable to Allah Ta`ala and likewise to society. Had it been acceptable, then every drug addict could defend himself by saying that this is how he was born and these are his natural feelings. Hence, he should be allowed to continue with his evi habits and ways.

The same argument can be tendered by every rapist, paedophile, murderer, thief and terrorist. Yet, every court of law and any lay person understands how unjustifiable this reasoning is. Such a person should seek the advice of an experienced, pious and learned aalim and hold firmly to his advice without allowing himself to be influenced by the negative propaganda that is being promoted on all fronts.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
