Joining Zuhr and Asr Salaahs in one salaah time

Q: If a person knows that due to some work he might miss the Asr Salaah, so in that case can he perform the Asr Salaah along with the Zuhr Salaah?
If yes, how many rakaats does he need to perform?
Note that this is not while travelling.
A: It is not permissible for one to join two salaahs by performing them in one salaah time. There are severe warnings in the hadith for the one who does so and the salaah which is performed before its time will not be valid and will have to be repeated.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
