Bringing a child who is still in nappies to the musjid

Q: Can a child who is still in his nappies be brought to the masjid? A toddler around the age of 2-3 years in age.

A: The Hadith has discouraged bringing children who are underage to the musjid. The reason is that it is possible that the child will mess the musjid or make a noise in the musjid thereby violating the sanctity of the musjid and disturbing those involved in ibaadah. Hence, children who are underage should be kept at home. When they reach the age when they are able to respect the musjid and fulfil the aadaab (etiquettes) of the musjid, then they should be brought to the musjid and remain under the supervision of their fathers.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
